about

During my 2009 China Tour, one surprising and inspirational discovery was the FM3 Buddha Machine which I bought in White Noise Music Store in Hong Kong. I also found the original version at the Buddhist temple on Lantau Island near the Big Buddha Statue. Later in 2011 and 2013, I had the opportunity to meet the creators of this amazing little device. The Buddha Machine has been a huge inspiration for me which I featured a few times on the Buddha Boxing shows, and even recorded a few films with, which you can find on my YouTube channel.

In 2016, I created several loops inspired by the Buddha Machine, but I soon forgot about them. I rediscovered these loops while looking through old files and folders, and felt that I now had the tools which which I could finish this project. Using Hainbach plugins like Gauss Field Looper and Wires, I was able to imitate the imperfections of those little Buddha Machine speakers, and I also used the decay mode to further degrade the loops.

The project is called "Loops for People" and features seven of the loops. Five of which were recorded in 2016 on my analogue Roland JX-8P, alongside two others recorded on kalimba and electric guitar. I believe they are great for contemplation and meditation, but feel free to use them however you like.
